In spring 2024, Northern Woodlands worked with Charlie Levesque and Alexandra Kosiba to publish A Guide to Forest Carbon in the Northeast. The guide includes the four forest carbon articles that Kosiba wrote for 2023 issues of Northern Woodlands magazine, as well as a helpful glossary of carbon-related terms and a brief list of information resources.
The guide was published using funds from a USDA Forest Service grant to the North East State Foresters Association to support its Securing Northeast Forest Carbon Program, and came about through the initiative of Levesque, who serves as the program’s coordinator and executive director.
“We hope this compilation will be available for years to come, as a key source of information for forest landowners,” Levesque said. State foresters will take the lead in distributing the guide. Individual copies are also available through Northern Woodlands, with a fee to cover staff time and shipping.
