Killingly Intermediate School in Dayville, Connecticut, has participated in Harvard Forest’s Our Changing Forest program since 2018. Seventh-graders take measurements and make observations in a forest plot near their school. Their work is uploaded into a growing database of forest data on the Harvard Forest website. Through the program, the students become “forest detectives,” exploring how forests change over time. Filmmaker Ben Silberfarb goes into the woods with the students and teachers, and shares Harvard Forest staff’s insights.
