Decorative woodsy background

August 2025

Our August Reader Photo Gallery brims with the vibrancy of late summer, while offering the first glimpses of the season ahead. In Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, Karen Dapp’s photo of jack-o’-lantern mushrooms glows with autumnal promise. In Alstead, New Hampshire, Colin Boyle captured a white-faced meadowhawk resting on a flower gone to seed – a quiet marker of change. And in Blue Hill, Maine, Ray Santullo turned his lens to the night sky, revealing a gorgeous nebula.

We’re looking for September 2025 photos that relate to northeastern forests. Readers may submit up to three photos for consideration.

September Gallery Submission Deadline: Tuesday, September 30, 2025. This gallery appears in our bi-weekly e-newsletter. Sign up here!

This gallery is made possible through generous support from R. Timothy Larsen / Larsen Fund.
