When: July 31st 2026 8:30 - 10:30 PM
Where: at Northern Woodlands, 16 On the Common, Lyme, New Hampshire
Join us in our backyard for an evening of nocturnal nature observation with lepidopterist JoAnne Russo. Using UV lights and white sheets, JoAnne will attract moths and other nighttime visitors, including beetles, lacewings, and other insects, giving you a rare, close-up look at the creatures that do much of their work after dark. You’ll be surprised by the diversity that emerges once the sun goes down.
This is a drop-in, self-guided observation event. JoAnne will be on hand throughout the evening to help with identification and answer questions.
Optional but recommended: eye protection (UV or regular glasses), camera or phone, headlamp or small flashlight, UV flashlight.
Free! Please consider a $5 donation at the door to support our programs.
Parking will be available across the common at 15 Main Street (courtesy of The Lyme Historians) or at the Lyme Park & Ride.
