As a complement to Jack Beaudoin’s article Lessons in Wood in the Winter 2023 issue of Northern Woodlands magazine, we asked audio producer Tim Ouillette (Munjoy Hill Media) to interview some of the instructors and students involved in the Mechanized Logging Operations & Forestry Trucking (MLOFT) program, which was created by three Maine community colleges and the Professional Logging Contractors of the Northeast to address workforce shortages in Maine’s forest industry. This year’s students celebrated their graduation from the 20-week training program on November 9, 2023.
