Luthier Eric Bright Plays “Melanie”

Luthier Eric Bright crafted guitars from salvaged wood of Adirondack spruce “sink logs,” which had settled on the bottom of Schroon Lake during log drives in the 1800s. Bright credited the particular resonance of his instruments to the unique qualities of this long-submerged wood.

The video below features a clip of Bright playing one of his guitars, “Melanie,” which writer Charlie Reinertsen mentions in an article celebrating Bright’s artistry.

Eric sadly passed away spring last year (2022) suddenly in an accident.
