Approximately 50 people contribute to the words and images in each issue of the magazine. Here are some of our Spring 2023 contributors.
Conrad Baker (“Autism Nature Trail,” page 50) is an environmental educator at Letchworth State Park in the Genesee Valley, between the Finger Lakes and Niagara Falls in New York State. You can find his educational video programs on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube @letchworthstatepark.
Marisa Crumb has been with Northern Woodlands since the start of 2020, happily providing freelance copyediting and proofreading services. Based in upstate New York, she’s enthusiastic about hiking, kayaking, the New York Rangers, and chocolate in its many forms, preferably enjoyed while hiking.
Ann Davis (Wood Lit, page 73) lives in New Hampshire, where she owns and manages the Woods Without Gile. Named the 2022 New Hampshire Tree Farmer of the year, Davis is a retired, award-winning journalist. When not curled up with a book, she enjoys walking the woodlot with her husband and rescue dog.
Lauren DiCarlo (“Techniques for Controlling Burning Bush,” page 24) developed her interest in ecology during childhood, living on an island off the coast of Maine. She holds an MS in Ecology from Penn State and a PhD in Wildlife Science from Oregon State University. An assistant professor at Westfield State University, she also enjoys paddle-boarding and spending time outside with her two dogs.
Declan McCabe (The Invertebrate Bestiary, page 70) is a Saint Michael’s College professor of biology. He and his students study biological diversity in rivers, Lake Champlain, and the Saint Michael’s College Natural Area. He specializes in aquatic invertebrates, supports student research projects on mammals and birds, and encourages tree planting on campus.
