Decorative woodsy background

1,000 Words

Photographer Erik Gehring captured this otherworldly image just after sunrise on top of Mount Zealand in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Gehring calls the piece Frozen Krummholz - krummholz is a German term for the wind-blasted, disfigured trees you find at or above the tree line. An apt subtitle might be: The Toughest Tree in the World. Visit his website here.
