At Northern Woodlands, we are very proud of our partners in the school program, the more than 250 educators -- who include middle school, high school, and adult education teachers, as well as 4-H leaders -- and their endlessly curious and creative students. We also have a number of "silent partners," without whom NWGTS would not exist.
Northern Woodlands magazine relies on Ghostwriters Communications of Poultney, Vermont to handle many of the administrative tasks associated with reaching 5,000 students across northern New England. Sandra Murphy, a freelance writer and specialist in environmental education affiliated with Ghostwriters, develops the quarterly teacher's guide that goes to the schools along with the magazine.

We work within a forest-centered education network that includes the Northern Forest Center of Concord, New Hampshire; the North Woods Stewardship Center of East Charleston, Vermont; the Maine TREE Foundation of Augusta, Maine; and the Project Learning Tree chapters of northern New England. These organizations contribute significantly to our understanding of environmental education and our ability to reach interested teachers.
As with many such endeavors, raising money to support NWGTS is often our biggest challenge. Northern Woodlands contributes all materials to participating schools free of charge, and no request to take part is turned down. The following foundations, organizations, and businesses have contributed financial support: Alexander Host Foundation, Fountain Forestry, Inc., Frank and Brinna Sands Foundation, French Foundation, International Paper, Maine TREE Foundation, Merchants Bank, New England Forestry Foundation, Northeastern Lumber Manufacturers Association, Society of American Foresters - Green Mountain Division, Twinflower Farm, and Wells River Savings Bank. NWGTS has, in addition, received generous contributions from individuals.
