About Northern Woodlands' Programs

Northern Woodlands is the trade name of the Center for Northern Woodlands Education, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization with a mission to shape the future of the Northeast’s forests through education about their value, use, and conservation.  Programs include:

Northern Woodlands magazine - a quarterly magazine for landowners, forestry professionals, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Northern Woodlands Goes to School - a place-based environmental education program for middle- and high-school students.

The Outside Story - a weekly column on forestry subjects, natural history, and ecology syndicated in dozens of newspapers. And now a book of the same name.

The Place You Call Home - a magazine-format owner’s manual geared to particular regions or states. 

Northern Woodlands Guide to Stewardship - a three book series, currently in the works.
