Northern Woodlands’ Programs

Northern Woodlands is the trade name of the Center for Northern Woodlands Education, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization with a mission to shape the future of the Northeast’s forests through education about their value, use, and conservation.  Programs include:

Northern Woodlands magazine - a quarterly magazine for landowners, forestry professionals, conservationists, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Northern Woodlands Goes to School - a program that provides place-based environmental education resources to educators in our region who want to connect their students to the outdoors. Enrolled classrooms are entitled to a complimentary subscription. The program also produces a bi-weekly Educator’s E-newsletter that is jam-packed with useful tools and content derived from Northern Woodlands publications. Sign up to receive this great newsletter!

The Outside Story  - a weekly column on forestry subjects, natural history, and ecology syndicated in dozens of newspapers. And now a book of the same name.

The Place You Call Home - a magazine-format owner’s manual geared to particular regions or states.
