Walking a field at the edge of Lake Memphremagog one fall evening, photographer Bob M. Montgomery found that the angle of the setting sun offered up some silhouette opportunities. “As I settled into the grass, the milkweeds were at perfect eye level,” said Montgomery. “This particular one had opened up interestingly; the soft, orange glow directly behind it outlines the form and details, creating a shape open to interpretation. It’s been described to me by various people as an angel, a lobster claw, a singing bird.”
