“I took this image on the Subway trail on Mt. Mansfield in Vermont,” says photographer Nathanael Asaro. The trail runs parallel to the west side of the ridgeline. Asaro and a friend began on the east side of the ridge and hiked up and across the “chin” of Mt. Mansfield for sunrise. “We proceeded to the Subway trail, our backpacks full of gear,” he recalls. “We finally reached the spot in this photo, which I believe is the reason the trail was named Subway. The tunnel view through the rocks, the silhouette, and the morning light compelled me to take out my camera and capture this moment.”
